Millions of people across the UK took part in Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 13 December 2019 in aid of Save the Children. For the Holiday Inn Southend, it was the greatest day of the whole entire year. We got to wear a load of silly jumpers, laugh at our colleagues wearing the most bizarre ones’ while raising money to change a child’s life.
Together, as one awesome team, we planned and plotted what we would do to raise as much money as we could. We applied to Save the Children and received a great Fundraising pack in the post. The pack included stickers, games, posters and collection boxes. We even created our own fundraising QR code!
On the day itself, all 40+ of our hotel team dressed up in Christmas jumpers and costumes. We shuck our buckets, strolled down each corridor and spoke to everyone that came through our doors to donate what they could. Each staff member gave £2 and many of our customers gave generously.
We also set up a text line that we promoted across Facebook and on posters throughout the hotel to encourage our regulars and residents to help us.
We are still awaiting the final tally of what we raised between our fundraising buckets and text alert line however in the meantime take a look at our team picture on the right…
